Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming AV systems in ways that were unimaginable a decade ago. It’s making meetings smoother and decision-making faster. From cameras that track speakers automatically to algorithms that predict hardware failures, AI is changing how organizations work.

In a recent PSNI survey, 35% of IT respondents said AI and automation were the most exciting AV trends for meeting rooms. Another 41% showed strong interest in integrating AI into their setups. These numbers highlight a clear trend — businesses want technology that saves time and improves results.

So, how is AI making this happen? Let’s explore its impact on meeting rooms and mission-critical spaces.

AI in Meeting Rooms: Smarter Collaboration

Meeting rooms are evolving to keep pace with how people work today. AI is helping teams connect and collaborate with less effort.

For example, Yealink’s AI 3.0 technology uses multi-stream IntelliFrame to give every participant their own video frame, even in hybrid setups. This ensures that remote attendees feel equally included in the conversation. “These advancements enhance video clarity and enable seamless collaboration, making hybrid environments far more productive,” says Jason Sun, Sales Director at Yealink.

Voice control is also gaining traction. Over 56% of PSNI’s survey respondents said they are interested in exploring voice control for their meeting rooms. AI-powered systems like those from ZeeVee support flexible integration. “With AV over IP, integrators and end-users can specify best-of-breed components to meet application and budget requirements. This approach offers greater flexibility and ensures scalability for future needs,” explains ZeeVee.

AI tackles common issues that disrupt meetings by adjusting microphones and suppressing background noise like typing or side conversations. Biamp’s audio solutions automatically handle these tasks, keeping meetings focused and reducing distractions.

AI in Mission-Critical Environments

Control rooms and other mission-critical spaces require systems that work flawlessly under pressure. AI is stepping up to meet that challenge.

“AI enhances situational awareness and streamlines decision-making by leveraging smart analytics for real-time data processing,” says Eric Hénique, Executive VP of Sales at VuWall. For example, AI can scan incoming data and highlight only the most urgent information, helping operators respond faster to critical events.

Nanolumens highlights the value of AI-driven processing for advanced displays: “As LED technology matures, integrators are prioritizing the processors driving these displays. A high-quality LED processor adapts to the unique characteristics of each pixel to maximize visual performance,” says Kurt DeYoung, Chief Revenue Officer for Nanolumens.

At the edge, AI is also being deployed in devices like sensors and drones. “This shift allows real-time data analysis and decision-making before footage is transmitted,” notes Mark Rushton, VITEC’s Global Defense and Security Lead. “This saves bandwidth and cuts costs. For example, if AI detects a significant event during an ocean scan, it can alert the operator immediately, avoiding the need for hours of footage review.”

Connecting AI to Broader AV Trends

AI adoption ties back to key themes we’ve explored throughout this series. In Blog 1, we discussed how AI and sustainability are reshaping AV in Europe. Blog 2 highlighted the importance of balancing innovation with cost-effectiveness. AI fits neatly into this picture, offering solutions that enhance efficiency and adaptability while keeping long-term costs in check.

Survey results also reveal a growing interest in complementary technologies like wireless AV solutions (13%) and voice control (18.5%). When paired with AI-driven tools, these innovations create a user-friendly, adaptable experience that supports evolving business needs.

What’s Next?

AI isn’t just making AV systems smarter—it’s solving real-world problems. From simplifying meetings to improving response times in mission-critical environments, AI is helping organizations work more effectively.
