For Japanese audiovisual integrator, Astro Serve, the job isn’t just about providing AV products and solutions. It’s also about putting a smile on every customers’ face.

“Our motto is, ‘Don’t just provide customers with service, but also make them happy,’” said Shigeru Okutani, who started Astro Serve on his own in 1994, and today serves as the company’s CEO. “We offer stress-free, user-friendly solutions that meet the specific needs of each customer. The customer’s satisfaction makes us happy and is a driving force for us.”

That driving force has taken Astro Serve far. The company has grown from one employee—Shigeru himself—to four offices in Osaka, Tokyo, Thailand, and Vietnam. To date, Astro Serve has completed more than 3,000 AV integration projects around the world.

Addressing Current and Future AV Needs Keeps Customers Happy

Part of making—and keeping—customers delighted is addressing more than just their current needs. Astro Serve takes a holistic approach that incorporates the customer’s future growth, requirements, and bottom line.

“Our strength is to be able to provide one-stop service, from system design to installation to support,” Shigeru said. “In addition, because we have offices in Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam, we can cover projects in all these countries in local languages. Not to mention English!”

Astro Serve customers include major corporations, educational institutions, entertainment venues, and public facilities. The company has an especially strong track record of projects for global corporations, Shigeru said.

“My staff, including myself as an engineer, has extensive knowledge of audiovisual and control technologies,” he said. “With this knowledge and more than 20 years of experience, we can solve any customer challenge.”

Since joining the PSNI Global Alliance in early 2019, Astro Serve has collaborated with fellow PSNI members including Level 3 Audiovisual, Ditec Comunicaciones, and iVideo Technologies.

“I have been impressed with the high awareness and hospitality of each member,” Shigeru said. “The Hiroshima installation project we were offered by Level 3 Audiovisual was especially memorable for me. The Level 3 people flew to Hiroshima. Thanks to them, we completed the project very smoothly. After work we had dinner together. I had a great time watching them enjoying Japanese food!”

AV Technology is Evolving and PSNI Member Expertise Is, Too

Services Astro Serve provides include remote and global conferencing systems for corporations, remote lecture and content sharing tools for universities, and integrated AV systems for public facilities such as civic halls, community centers, libraries, and medical facilities. But as AV evolves, those kinds of systems will start to look different, Shigeru said.

“With technological progress, only network-centric equipment will be used,” he said. “This makes the installation and adjustment easier, and I think that the number of high-skilled engineers required will decrease. Therefore, we have to consider how we shall pass on the technology of the analog age to the next generation.
